The Venom Archive

About

Hi, I'm Ihateseahorses, although unfortunately my parents did not name me that. My real name is Manuella, basically Manuel with an extra la attached to it. I'm from Brazil.

I'm mostly into thrash, speed and early black metal. I've always found the beginning of extreme metal really interesting, especially the bands that were doing something genuinely different before there was even a proper name for it.

That's what I like so much about Venom. They sounded and looked different, and they ended up influencing an absurd amount of the metal that came after them. I've once heard someone say that Venom might not be your favorite band, but they're probably your favorite band's favorite band and I find that super funny, and accurate too.

As for the music itself, I love how prominent the bass is, Cronos voice fits the band perfectly, and there's something about Mantas guitar playing that makes Venom sound like Venom. I'm not a musician, so that is about as technical as my analysis is going to get.

My favorite album is Black Metal, which is a painfully predictable answer, and my favorite song is Teacher's Pet.

And as for why I made this archive: I like old photographs and I like knowing the story behind them. There's something a little depressing about looking at shows, places and moments from forty years ago that I'll obviously never get to experience, but seeing the pictures is probably the closest I'm going to get.

So I started collecting them, and there are nearly 1,300 now.

Oops.
